This year I had to make the tough decision to give the National Series a miss. My PhD thesis is due at the end of January which coincides exacetly with the timing of the National Series. But this gave me the opportunity to support some local races that I always enjoy racing.
Josh and I headed to Hanmer Springs for the Hammerhead. The course was great fun and we stayed on to soak in the friendly atmosphere afterwards. I won the womens race and with it some anti-aging cream. I'm not sure if that was a hint but I think my Dad will appreciate it as a 60th birthday present later in the year.
We stayed for the weekend and took out some fatbikes on Sunday. To our surprise, they are super fun to ride, especially on the gravel tracks around Hanmer. You can even jump them but apparently that's not so good for your joints.
